It’s always an amazing thing when people are willing to give back to the communities that have nourished them. For most people, we feel as if it is our civic duty to allocate funds to those of which who need it. Of all of the philanthropists in our world, there are only a few that can honestly say that they give over $30 million in donations to causes they feel as worthwhile, especially when it will have a huge impact on our world. While there are other financial obligations that may hamper how much a person may donate to charities, there are some that genuinely stand apart. Lev Leviev has been long known to do this and more, and is a pillar in the Hasidic Community.
To understand Lev Leviev’s charitable nature, a person must first understand the man’s upbringing. From a humble upbringing in Uzbekistan, the Leviev family immigrated to Israel, where Lev had the job at a diamond polishing plant. With an unquenched desire for success, he built his brand around what he learned at the polishing plant and implemented some of the best business decisions the world has seen. What set Leviev apart from others would be the fact that he kept his community at heart when he amassed his wealth, and has given back generously,
Lev Leviev allocates $50 million a year to different charitable groups and institutions, including his own Ohr Avner charity, in which he named for his father. In conjunction to this, he is the president of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS, the largest umbrella group of Jewish communities across the former Soviet Union. Lev Leviev’s philanthropic efforts do not just stay within the Jewish Community, as some would expect. He is a strong proponent of education, an apparent fact when considering he donates a sizable amount to the Museum of the City of New York, one of the most astounding museums in the modern world.
Lev Leviev is one that supports numerous charitable groups, something that we need in this world. In times of economic downturn, it becomes vitally important for philanthropists to exhaust their efforts for those in need. This is something that Leviev does, and has, for a number of years.
